I had a weird end to my day. It started fine, but I'm going to post this and call an end to Thursday as soon as I can.

We saw our Korean guest off to her dorms this morning and settled her into her new digs as best we could before she had to race off to orientation. She is just so sweet and cute and looked so forlorn when we left her that I just wanted to scoop her up and adopt her.

I thought people were going to the Rose Garden for Thursday tea, but I was out there in the sudden cold for an hour before Kirei arrived. We sat huddled together under a small blanket waiting for yet another hour before we left. I had tea and treats, but I forgot to give Kirei one of the gluten-free snacks when we parted. I think part of my brain was frozen. Sorry, Luv.

I had taken the car in case it rained so I could help transport people, so I picked up a new baby aloe plant (the one I've been cultivating for 8 years has not survived my absence) and then raced home as it had begun to sprinkle. I just made it to the drive way when the sky opened and G and I were racing to take in the laundry before it was soaked. I now have most every surface draped with some article of clothing for the rest of the night.

After struggling to keep my desktop computer booted and on for the past couple days, I approached G to discuss how to fix it and I am getting very little joy. I'm about ready to chuck the whole thing out the window and leave for a life of nomadic International and decidedly non-tech exploration. I guess it's me and the laptop for a while until someone decides what to do. Meanwhile, I have a dryer to try to fix. I guess I'll do what I do best: muscle large objects and try to fix them. I'm useless at computer fixing, so I'll stick to the stuff with gears and cogs and other obvious bits. I'm still thinking of becoming an ascetic recluse or a Luddite. I'm just frustrated. I guess that means it's time to go to bed. It's just been a very weird and anti-climactic afternoon and evening.
