miladycarol: (Busy writing in Rome)

Just a quick message to let everyone know I'm safely back in Eugene. My flight from SanFran to Eugene was chock full of exchange students, including the young lady we're currently hosting. She's lovely. I hope she'll come to tea with us so you can meet her. I also made aquaintance with a number of other students and passed out my phone number. It makes me want to go to school.

In other news, I arrived home to receive a phone call less than 30 minutes after walking in the door from the emergency room. It seems my Mom was admitted again last night after passing out after her physical therapy. I JUST left there! She was doing well. Not one day after going and she's back in the hospital. They are sending her home again today. I guess I'll have to make some more phone calls tommorrow to investigate this further. I want to know why her blood pressure crashed like that. I know she wants her independence, but I can't stand it when there's problems and I'm so far away. I may have to knock her over the head and drive her up here. I can live with her complaining about the rain better than feeling so impotent every time she has need of me and I'm not there. Right? *sighs heavily* Either way, I'm not going to win. I am learning to be content with that.

For the last 6 years, I've been copying all my cd's into my computer. Many of my cd's were left in Australia, so I don't even have them in this country any more. Here's where I need help.

I need to find some way of transferring all my songs from my iPod (which I had updated just before my D drive died) onto my computer and into iTunes so I can have them all there in case something happens to my iPod. It took me hundreds of hours to copy all my cd's onto the computer over the years, and I'd like to avoid doing this again all at once.

Does anyone know of a program that works on a PC (not a Mac) that will drag my songs from the iPod and into my computer still in the playlists? That would be optimal. I'm on the edge of tears every time I think about all the years of my life and work that I've lost as it is. If I had to re-rip all that music off my cd's, I'd throw up my hands and toss what's left of this computer in the trash, declare my library a neolithic cave and demand that no one approach with anything remotely tech or I'll threaten to brandish my obsidian-tipped spear and club while grunting inconsolably.
