I still haven’t made the peach blueberry muffins. Instead, I dinked about doing odd jobs around the house. Still good stuff to have out of the way, yet no joy in muffin-land. My poor boys suffer so.

I had a really productive and fun day. I manicured the lawn (weed whacked, raked, weeded, mowed), then I attempted to temporarily fix my failing deck stair by stuffing a cinder block underneath. It doesn’t quite work and I fear a total step-ectomy is in order. When I bought the house, the deck had never been preserved and the wood was starting to warp and age badly. Five years later and it is really beginning to show wear. There is really little point in preserving it now and I feel like it may be easier to wait until it’s really bad and then re-build the whole puppy. Until then, I must make the step safe.

The fun part of the day arrived in the form of a tribal sojourn to Baja Fresh for lunch and other fun activities. Yeah for tribal fun!

Have you thought about replacing your deck with trex? It never needs replacing and is made of recylced materials...

I have seen this product in my magazine. The deck project is probably another 2 years in the future. I think the one I have will be fine at least that long. I have always considered a product like this, but I figure I'll research it in depth as the deck date approaches. There may be more options by then. Thank you, though, for suggesting it. I put the link in my House and Garden bookmark section.

By the way, you mentioned once about a new kind of water heater that is more energy efficient. Do you have info on that or at least a proper name for the product so I can look it up? I'm hotter to try that than a deck in the moment.
