If you:
1. ...owned a restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?
I would probably own one of those cool little spots people hit when they get out of movies or shows to sit around and chat in. It wouldn't be a restaurant per se, it would likely have a cafe feel with little round tables, comfy chairs, big windows with little Christmas lights in them, mural paintings on the walls with lots of big plants. I'd make it rather eclectic. It would serve coffee, tea, hot chocolate, smoothies, bubble tea... all the basic non-alcoholic beverages with non-lactose options. I would have an asian desert bar that served fresh fruit and those cool layered treats with ice shavings. It would need to be near theatres, cinemas and a university for the type of people it would thrive upon.
2. ...owned a small store, what kind of merchandise would you sell?
I guess I would take the above cafe and add a used bookstore to it. I realize it's a popular concept, but they work well together. I just love to sit and read while sipping tea or coffee. It's idyllic.
3. ...wrote a book, what genre would it be?
It would likely combine history, science and mystery. It would definitely be fictional. But those are my three favourite genres. I may toss in a bit of the fantasy realm, just for flavour. *wink*
4. ...ran a school, what would you teach?
Life skills. I would teach both scholastic and life skills through practical means. Learning how to balance a checkbook and start a business can all be taught at a young age with the lemonade stand principal. Geometry and other maths can be taught through cooking and art (making a table fit in certain dimensions, building a metal box with a hinge and clasp, tripling a recipe, etc), chemistry through pottery and glaze techniques, spelling and grammer through creative writing, social skills through interactive role play gaming and lemonade stand type business interactions with the public. I hated being bottled up in a classroom surrounded by black slate and hard wooden seats in rows. I never learned any of the really important things until I hit the real world. Schools are nothing more than prisons where they keep children "safe" until their parents pick them up, oh, and toss a little knowledge out there and hope the kids catch it. Don't get me wrong, I think the notion was a great one, I just don't necessarily like what they have devolved into. I want to teach boys they can play with dolls and that the girls can play with erector sets. When I was a little girl, I wish I had learned that people's image of me is set by me and completely under my control. They may draw their own opinions about my image, but it's mine and they can't force me into a false one. I wish I had learned that the most important things in my life would be to be true to myself and make myself happy. I would have avoided a long period of depression and unhappiness if I had. I love the power of my laughter. With it, I can make myself and everyone around me feel better. I wish I had known that as a child. These are things I want to teach. To every age. It's never too late to learn. Luckily, I don't need a school or a charter license to teach this stuff. Hopefully, I am teaching some of it to people around me right now. Always keep an open mind, for you never know when someone may want to drop something into it. *smile*
5. ...recorded an album, what kind of music would be on it?
I would record an album of laughter. Not the jokes, just the people laughing. And not the laugh-track stuff. Really honest laughter. Wouldn't it be great to have a cd that you could throw into the stereo when you are sad that could make you happier? Laughter is infectious and when there is no one else around to make you laugh, there would be this album.
