Plumbing is fixed. Go me! That’s strong electrical fu and plumbing fu within a two week period. Maybe it’s time to take on the bathroom vent fan I’ve been procrastinating…
I had a really strong, pleasant flashback this morning in Italian class. I was talking with Sophia who is a baker and I broached the subject of brioche being one of the best foods to come out of any bakery if it’s done correctly. She agreed with me and carried on conversing while my entire body went on a journey 3000 miles away to winter in Providence, RI. I would spend my Saturdays wandering about the city with my sketchbook and charcoal. Usually I would stop at the Coffee Exchange and grab a café au lait then march up Wickenden Street to the little bakery that made the best brioche I ever tasted. They would be hot out of the oven if I went early enough. I was so present in this moment that I could feel the cold winter wind on my face, hear the crunch of snow under my feet, smell the mingled aroma of coffee and hot bread and taste the sweet buttery egginess of the brioche as I headed back down the hill with the sun just beginning to rise over the roofs of the buildings to the east. *deeply inhales the fondness of the memory, then exhales in a long sigh*
There aren’t many things I miss about my previous life, but apparently, that’s one of them. Just thought I’d share it with you all. *smiles warmly*
