I slept in. What a great start to a holiday! I woke at my usual 7ish hour and realized I had a real holiday and made the conscious decision to roll over and fall back asleep. Yeah me!
Then we both rose and made copious amounts of food, gathered the puppies together and drove off to the Barkers’ for dinner. The Barkers are a good, old fashioned, salt of the earth, American family. Therefore, they had a huge turkey, a big ol’ ham, potatoes, candied yams, bread, stuffing, several cinnamon dishes and three kinds of pies. Because they love me, they spend extra time and effort to make me non-meat and non-cinnamon versions of some of these dishes. I also brought plenty of veggie food as well, so I was well set. Then we watched the Two Towers on DVD.
I am really serious about having a celebration feast after the holidays. Some time in the beginning of January, I think I’d like to invite my Tribe over for food, games and fun to celebrate… well, to celebrate us. Whatever our difficulties and challenges our, I think we are some of the most fortunate people in the universe. Why? Because we have us. We have each other. And I think we are a remarkable group of people.
So, here is the prime invite. At some point in the first two weeks of January, I’d like us all to think of a date that we could gather together and feast. Please send me your input, I’d like as many of us together as possible. We could arrange to all make a dish or two so there is a variety of food, and I’ll provide all the fillers and a dish or two of my own. It will have to be on a day that I don’t work because I’ll need to prepare, but I think I’ll be able to request some time off after Holiday Market is done. There will be room for any out of town folke that want to come.
I’m looking forward to it already.
Okay, off to bed. It’s back to the bead mines tomorrow for the post-Thanksgiving shopping hoarde.

As for the January Celebration Feast, We'll have to work a day that is okay for us all. If it can be a weekday, that's great because I work the weekends and I'll need the day to prepare and cook. If it needs to be a weekend, maybe we can shift my work and our gaming schedules to accomodate that weekend. We could even turn it into a Dr. Who or Stargate fest afterward. Anything geeky would do. What do you think?
