So, we are alive and well here at Avalonne, just in case anyone was wondering.
Why might you wonder? Well, G and our local phone company are butting horns again. This is a regular occurrence this year. It might even be a saga worthy of one of those recurring seasonal shows that star well known people in frustrating, yet humourous situations.
This winter’s episode pitches our Great Australian Folke Hero against his arch-nemesis, Several Underpaid, Overworked People From the Local Phone Company Who Might Normally Be Happy, Well-Adjusted People But For The Sad Fact That They Have To Sit And Listen To Uptight, Complaining Folke All Day.
As our narrative begins, our hero is blissfully going about his morning ablutions when he is informed by his sidekick, Giggles, that the DSL is down. Upon further inquiry and a phone call to the Nemisis, it is determined that they are finally finishing his order to straighten up our phone lines from last season’s debacle. They said they would certainly be finished today in plenty of time for the holiday. So, with our phone lines and DSL temporarily down for part of the day, our intrepid hero and his sidekick leave to run their errands. When we return, everything is still amok and they have switched our lines around in an unpleasant way. After much further discussion between the two parties, it is determined that the Several Underpaid, Overworked People, etc. have decided that they need to go home to bed and they will work on the problem eagerly Friday morning. They promise.
Isn’t life fun, kids?
So, in summary, we have a phone and DSL, but it isn’t our phone number. We can use it until they give us our actual phone number back again. Hopefully, with DSL attached. In the meantime, I’m not sure if we will be able to receive any phone calls. Email seems a better option. Maybe. *heavy sigh with head hanging down*
Anyway, it was great to tea with the tribe. I look forward to our Thursday tea dates until I see if I can reclaim my Sundays. Have a wonderful holiday. I’m going to bed. Love and hugs to all.
