G, the puppies and myself went on a journey. We decided to pack up the new wagon and head for Sisters and Bend. We tossed a foam mattress topper and a couple of sleeping bags in the back of the car, packed some miscellany camping gear, threw the puppies in the car and took off on an adventure.

Much fun was had. Neither of us had ever really stopped in Bend or Sisters. They were just places to stop and refuel on the way to or from Eugene. I’ve been wanting to explore them better for some time.

We had a lovely journey in our car with suspension and other assorted working bits that we were accustomed to driving without for so long. We parked the car in a tent campsite and, instead of pitching a tent, we camped in the back of the vehicle. It worked out really well. It was a bit cramped with the dogs, but this was meant to be a trial adventure so we could learn what we need to do to improve our new camping experience. We spent today in Sisters and then picked blueberries on the way home.

I’m tired so I’m going to do a little catching up on LJ and then hit the sack. Good night, Universe!

I actually prefer back of the car camping, but I'm a weirdo.

It was our first time. We have never had that ability before. Great fun! Wheee! I must be a weirdo too!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Michael and I should go camping like that some week-end. The only problem is that every single week-end is taken up with role-playing games or conventions for the same. sigh...

Well, take a weekend off. We will understand. It is so nice to be able to spend happy bonding time with your lover. At home, we may be together, but I spend some of that time thinking about errands, chores, personal activities, cooking, etc. When you are away, it's just the two of you and the environment you plop yourselves into. Camping is so inexpensive, it wouldn't be a big strain on the budget. We could, if we planned it, even spend some quality time with the bunch of us camping together AND playing games. That is, above and beyond your personal bonding time. You should do that together first.

You're right. We should do that some time. It sounds like it would be wonderful. I'll talk to [livejournal.com profile] biomekanic and see what we can come up with. I think it would be fun for a group of us to go together too.

Something else I think would be fun would be to get a telescope and go out some clear night and look at the stars. Mars in particular since it's so close now.
