We had a wonderful breakfast of mango, coconut banana pancakes this morning before we dressed and headed into the southern countryside. Wine country. Neither of us had ever driven out there. It's quite lovely. This whole weekend, the wineries of the area are having free open houses and wine tastings. We only made it to two of them before we'd had our fill. We shared a flight at each of the two, for we are lightweights in the alcohol department.
We stopped at Noble Estate Winery first and walked away with a Pinot Gris. Then we traveled to Sweet Cheeks Winery and bought a Riesling. Sweet Cheeks has quite a layout. There is a lovely patio with a sweeping view of the valley. It's gorgeous. They even had a band and nibbley bits.
We were thinking of trying a couple more vineyards tomorrow. Any locals interested should let us know. It was fun for us both, yet more is always merrier. We'll likely have another big Sunday Morning Breakfast tomorrow before heading out after noon. I have egg over rice and chicken sausage planned for tomorrow after our traditional sleep in.
On our way home, we stopped by to visit Kenan and Kathy at their beautiful garden home. We walked away with a carton of eggs and freshly picked persimmons. They are always so free and kind with their garden bounty. Plus, I had the chance to visit with my favourite chicken, Miss Dazzle. She was the one they called "the lame one" before I named her. I'm very proud. I'm contemplating a set of jewelry in her colours. I've got a rough idea of what I want to use, I just need to lay it out. Exciting.
Okay, tonight we watch Ratatouille while dining on leftovers.
