Since our little Hobbit Hole never receives any ghosties, ghoulies and candy beggers, G and I have made it a habit to take to the streets and go trick-or-treating ourselves. We invite our International student over for dinner, costume ourselves and wander into the streets to mingle with the revelers. It's always a great experience for the student and we have a blast.

This year, Alex knew Halloween was an event of great importance. Among his necessities that he packed and brought to America was his costume. How cool is that? He came equipped with a Final Fantasy baddie. Nice. Everyone was great. We were even invited into the house of the Australian ex-pat that lives up the street from us. We were able to witness The Great Candy Auction of the youngsters of the house. They had just returned from their haul and had spread their ghoulie-gotten-gains before them on furniture and floor. They had already decided which ones they wanted to keep and had begun the negotiation process for trade.

I love our town. The adults were dressed as elaborately as the younglings. We lingered on doorsteps and in the streets chatting and laughing. Have I mentioned how much I love Halloween? I even picked up a couple of candy bars, myself. I love how our hood gives the good stuff. Full sized candy bars. Sure, they aren't the usual organic dark chocolate I usually buy for myself, still...

...Of course, this could be the sugar typing. *buzz buzz*

Fun!

Sounds like a great time was had by all. My first annual Halloween Feast was great! We ate turkey and all the other traditional holiday sides until WE were the ones stuffed--not the turkey. :-) I managed to pace myself and not get sick but mom and dad ate until it hurt! I did that when I warmed up leftovers for lunch today (oops!). The decision is unanimous and final: We shall have a turkey dinner for Halloween from now on. I think this will be really great because we can invite friends who usually can't come to Thanksgiving or Christmas due to other commitments. So, to all my buds, expect an invite next year! Pardon if this ends up a dupe post to some of you since I'm going to make it today's journal entry for myself. :-)
