We spent yesterday driving and have arrived safely in Incline Village, NV. It's pretty. I was hoping for a bit more of an actual village, but hey. We drove around this morning looking for this non-existent village and a view of the lake to no avail. The huge mansions, condos and rental units crowd the edge of Lake Tahoe with tall fences and walls blocking all view. We eventually found one little café and had our breakfast.
While G was working on the computer (back in our room... the only place with wi-fi), I took a walk. I managed to find the lake, though I had to cut through a private resort to do so. I figured there were enough people milling around that I could pass as a resident on a stroll. I emerged onto a gravel beach and gazed across the lake. I didn't bring my cable for my camera or I'd show you the picture. It is nice, yet nothing compared to our beautiful lakes back home. I'm so spoiled by Oregon.
I freely admit that this body is completely and thoroughly tuned to a certain kind of environment. I like my mountains, valleys, forests, rivers and meadows in a certain way. It has to feel right and smell right to be right for me. Alpine areas are usually quite gorgeous and have a certain appeal, yet it's just not quite right to me. Had I mentioned spoiled? *wry grin*
We'll be having an early dinner, then I'll shower and change for the wedding. We are not due in SanFran until Sunday, so we may just extend our stay one more night here. There is a lovely little wine and chocolate bar that has tastings Saturday evenings. I stopped in and the place smells wonderful and the fellow was great to talk to.
