I began the day with a list of goals and dreams.
Handy, yes?
After the usual morning routine, I threw on my painting gear and set about opening the cans of interior paint to touch up and finish my mural. Well, it's been a number of years since I've had access to that room, so I've not opened the paint cans in quite a while. Everything went fairly smoothly until red. Red totally kicked my butt. Red demanded a sacrifice and still refused to open. Red received blood, flesh, a strain and internal bruising. My right hand hurt so badly from the wrist, through the top of the hand and down my thumb and middle finger that I closed up shop for the day. I didn't type. I didn't paint. I didn't even cook as that would require a lot of motion. The pain wasn't unbearable, yet I'm completely aware of how dependent upon my hands health I am, so I decided to scrap the list of goals and replace them with non-manual labour. Literally. This morning, the cuts and internal bruises are still tender and the muscular strain is down to a very minor presence. I think I'll still hold off on any big projects. I should be okay to paint. I'll just use my left hand dominantly and I should be fine.
Stoned!
I went out and bought a whole new can of red paint and, while at Home Depot, I decided to give a thought to some garden bed landscaping. There is, after all, that big hole I dug last year to house a veggie patch. I need to build some kind of retaining wall and fill it with soil. To that end, I had some kind gentlemen load up my car with 20 vineyard bricks. Because of my hand, they are still in the car. I know I am not going to get far with only 20 bricks, yet I want to fool around with them and see how they stack and look. If I'm satisfied, I'll buy enough to finish the project. They are a pretty red. It's rather exciting.
Fern-ished gardens
I also stopped by a nursery on the way home and picked up a couple of little ferns. Since I'm working on my shade gardens, why not buy those end of the season deals? I've gotten some really great prices on plants over the past couple of weeks without really trying. Awesome. I haven't planted any yet, they are all sitting in proposed spots to make sure they are happy and I'm happy with their placement and to wait for my hand to feel 100% again.
Keyboard?
When I returned home, I found my keyboard gone. No, it wasn't ninjas. It was G. The second server unit for the new biz arrived and he is going to spend the next month or so setting it up in his office. Honestly, it sounds like a unit of F-10 fighter planes started in a hanger. Even with the door closed. And the temperature in that room is 18.5 C (65 F) compared to a cool 14.1 C (57 F) in the rest of the house. I had to buy this keyboard when I bought my Mac because all the keyboards in the house used the old round plug and everything on the Mac and the dock are USB. Since I have the only USB keyboard, I'll be sharing with G while he builds the servers. Fortunately, I can just shut down the computer and undock to use the keyboard on my laptop if need be.
So, I stole back my keyboard this morning for a little desktop computer time, then I'm going to work on the mural a bit before I shower for the day.
