This morning there were snuggles. Two hours of intensely beautiful puppy snuggles with Aldina. Glorious.
A thunder, lightening and heavy rain storm broke very early this morning. Historically, Dina has been very, very frightened of thunder, fireworks and other loud sounds. She's much better at dealing with it now, yet even a big girl who is very brave seeks the comfort of parental snuggles at such times. I felt her walk up my body and curl up on my torso. I felt the little shivers and quakes through the blanket after she had settled and I shifted myself and her so I had her cradled in my arms, on her back, with her head on the pillow and the covers over her. I pet her head and rubbed her tummy for a long time and whispered sweet confidences in her ear. The shivering abated and she soon fell into a very deep sleep full of big breaths and some little snores and dream twitches. I think I dozed, too. Once I was awake and ready for the day, I stayed in bed an extra 15 minutes or so because she hadn't awakened yet.
Today is a good day. I'm feeling very much loved and very important.
