I woke at 7am, realized it was Sunday, then rolled over to have a wee sleep-in. Next thing I know, a couple hours later, I've been pounced upon and am in danger of drowning from the sudden attack of licks from my sweet, little Morgana. Apparently, it is way past time for the dispensing of Morning Treats™ and the throwing and chasing of things around the house. Oh, how I love that girl!

So, one Sunday Morning Breakfast later, we are dressed and headed out for a couple of errands and then to fetch [livejournal.com profile] lurkitty for a day of fruit picking.

Side Note: I really, REALLY appreciate having Lurkitty closer than an hour up the highway! It makes spirit of the moment notions like this possible with her.

So, we began the day with peach picking -- except the peaches aren't in season yet. Oddly, they are usually in the first stages of prime picking the first week of August. Not this year.

Next, we stop to visit [livejournal.com profile] muincat at her foresty grove. Conversations were had, trees were honoured, puppies were scritched and played with, hugs were exchanged.

Then were were off on our quest for blueberries. I think they are late, too. Two of the orchards in the area were closed, so we picked some wild blackberries. On our way out, we found another orchard that was open, but I think we're a good 2 weeks away from a good crop. I'm hoping to harvest enough to freeze them in bulk for months worth of morning smoothies. G uses blueberries every day, almost, so it's a good investment to have fresh local stock in our little freezer.

I returned home and did a bit of yard maintenance. I saw a hummingbird flit through my backyard for the first time EVER yesterday. I about peed myself with excitement. I had a beautiful red hand-blown glass hummingbird feeder out for over a year until it finally broke in a wind storm and nary a bird visited it. When it broke, I decided not to replace it. Today, I replaced it with an inexpensive little ball model. I'm encouraged and hope that little girl returns and tries some of my hospitality.

I also harvested some mint and put together fresh salad wraps for dinner. The table always looks so impressive when I make this meal. So bountiful. G floored me tonight by telling me that I regularly out-do his Mother in the quality and variety of this meal. The only thing he ever told me I make better than his Mother the Chef was my Italian Bolognese sauce (something so definitely not Asian she wouldn't eat, never mind cook). I feel like I've won a gold medal. Yay me!
