So, I'm working to install everything and make my little computer whole again and I'm at the point where I'd like to retrieve the photos, music, documents, etc., from my backup drive. I'm connected. I can see the data. I try to open or copy or transfer this data into the new computer and nothing happens. The data isn't really there. It's just the names of the folders and there is nothing in them, apparently.

It seems that even when I do all I can to back up my data, I'm doomed to lose all my photos, all my journals, all my artwork and all my files. Doomed.

I'm beginning to feel like there is very little purpose in taking pictures or saving anything. Life is, quite apparently, fleeting and untenable.

I'd be very sad if I weren't already used to the notion that everything I try to save and accomplish on a computer is pretty much for naught.

No, you are not doomed. I have talked with the Doug. Apparently, the mac will only see the library files it starts with unless you tell it which library to look at. It's not that the files are empty, it just can't see them until you tell it to look at them.

Breathe. I'll come over later, okay?
