Tonight, I sit in the papasan with a pot of gyrokuro, my laptop, my knitting and a puppy all balanced around me.
As I knit, it occurred to me that following a knitting recipe is very much like translating a word problem into math, then applying it to find the solution and create the art.
In school, I hated word problems. I lacked the number to language and language to number translating skill. Now, I'm enjoying the knitting because it requires logic and math to make the piece work. I'm having fun figuring it all out.
I have come a very long way.
