I'm on the deck with Maxine (my MacBook) on my lap. I haven't chosen to use her much yet because I'm still on that learning curve. It's just simpler and faster to use the PC desktop for most things until I really get my groove on with the Mac. This afternoon, I made a major breakthrough.

My biggest hangup to using the Mac was a tiny little macro program. I've been using Perfect Keyboard Pro since 2000. It has become an absolutely ESSENTIAL part of my computing experience. On a computer that doesn't have it, I am constantly reminded how crippled my expediency is. Not having a macro program on the Mac was absolutely frustrating to me. [livejournal.com profile] lurkitty found one for me, I installed it, followed the directions and had nothing but trouble. After days of trying, failing and a lack of support correspondence from the coder, I decided it was now or never. I actually conquered it by reading the directions for another similar mac program. Thank goodness!

Now that I have a macro program on Maxine, I actually feel like I can move my personal accouterments into the house. Up until now, I've moved in a few big pieces of furniture, but nothing homey. Now I am ready to put up curtains, paint the walls, hang my pictures and dance naked in the living room.

It's amazing to me that such a little program could prevent me from embracing the new computer, but it's very true. If I hadn't found a compatible program, I'd have really resented this computer choice. I thank all the ones and zeros, the trees and the Universe for this beautiful sunny day, the breeze, the windchimes and this little Mac macro program. *warm smile*
