We had such a wonderful time at GameStorm. It was a weekend of geeks, games, acting, wandering about in odd costumes, making new friends… what fun!

I wore rather “normal” clothes on Friday, Saturday I was a vampire and Sunday I was a Medieval lass. I played many really cool games, did some role playing and even won a Steve Jackson game called Chez Greek. It was great fun and now I own it. I also bought Fluxx, another card game. I played a female orc cleric with extreme hate issues and a generally obnoxious personality for a few hours. That was fun. Hmmm… how to get away with being surly, crude, and insulting in public and have it be completely desirable… gotta love gaming!

I also played a great new game called Horror Rules. It was a lot of fun and the creator of the game was the GM. The website is www.crucifictiongames.com

On the last day, G, Flex and I all played a game together. It was a Fudge game where we played animals who belonged to a ranger/wizard master. We could all communicate with each other and had some communication skills with other animals. George was a bloodhound, Flex a black cat and I was a raccoon. I had a blast! I had never played Fudge before and it was really easy to learn.

The people there were of the highest caliber gamers. I didn’t game with anyone obnoxious at all. George ran into one obnoxious person and Flex gamed with a nice boy who just happened to be a really bad gamer, but overall, everyone was great. There was a really lovely young lass who is also a SCAdian there. Out of the blue, she just came up to me and told me I was lovely and that she thought I needed a hug. What a wonderful world! We exchanged many hugs throughout the weekend. Life is great!

Everyone was so gracious, even the flirting and approaches were very socially acceptable. There was one gentleman who actually really impressed me when he hit on me. He seemed really sincere and he took his time over several encounters over the course of Saturday. I’ll have to talk to you, [livejournal.com profile] lethran about his style. You may want to include it as a sample experience in your book about dating for geeks.

Shameless promotion: If anyone reading this is interested in learning more about [livejournal.com profile] lethran’s book, please contact her through her LJ. It is an excellent book and she is an amazing person. I am always honored by her presence in my life.

After 3 days of gaming, we stopped at Brad and Sarah’s place in Portland on the way home. I made tea, we played Munchkin and Chez Greek, ate pizza… again, a wonderful time. *sigh*

Fluxx rocks. Jeremy got it for me the solstice before last and it's become one of our standard time fillers along with Zombies!.

I used to play a female half orc druid. She and her barbarian half orc bodyguard declared themselves "orkin" supremisists and planned to overthrow the corrupt government of the city where they were trapped. They then planned to "civilize" the humans, who they believed to be cannibal barbarians.

Re:

hee hee! I can visualize the uprising now! I had a lot of fun with that character. I also really enjoyed being the raccoon. Kind of a license for unlimited mayhem.

You don't need a licence for mayhem!
Our plan started with assassination and moved on to mayhem.

Hey! Guess what? George gave the okay to go to poorcon. Do we need advanced tickets? George and I will probably put ourselves up at a hotel during the weekend. We don't want to put you and the cats out with our personal brand of chaos. I'll tell Naudiz the news. Yeah! What should I bring? What should I wear? Hmmmm.... plans to make! Yipee! More fun fun fun! And more Lethran and Skyemage! What more could I ask for? Well, maybe peace. *frown*

1. You only need to pay in advance if you want me to sign you up for games in advance. If you plan to play "Breakfast Time for Man" etc. Prereg is a good idea. It costs the same at the door or in advance. You also need to prereg if either of you wants to run a game. Let me know if you need me to do any of this for you.

2. There is a motel six really close to where I live. Their phone number is (360)671-4494, If you are lookig for something more upscale, my Mom usually stays at the Caochman Inn (360) 671-9000.

3. Dice bag is highly recommended. If you are going to play warhammer or clix, bring your stuff. If you want to run a game, bring it.

4. In keeping with the "Poor" part of the name, no one wears costumes. Instead, I recomend geek themed tee shirts and jeans.

5. You are welcome to stay for more than the convention. I'd love to hang out with you for as much of the week you can spare.

6. If you are playing my vamp/garou game on Sunday, you are welcome to bring low level vampires or werewolves to run in my 8th century game. Let me know what you are bringing, so I can make sure we don't have any duplicate ideas.
