What a wonderful evening! G and I left for Newtown this afternoon, walked around, sat for a while in a café talking about all sorts of things (including some of the monarchs of Britain and France), then proceeded to King St. where we dined at a great Vietnamese restaurant. There is this appetizer there, vegetarian green papaya salad, that is absolutely divine. I’ve been craving it for weeks. When we had finished dinner, we proceeded three doors down to the vegan Asian market that makes its own soy ice cream. Heavenly! We strolled down the street people watching, window shopping and slowly savouring my ice cream. I even flirted with a few store clerks. A completely lovely evening. Blissful.

It's amazing. My all time favourites are the black sesame seed and the green tea. They make the green tea with real gyokuru tea and toss in the leaves for good measure. It's a stunningly attractive ice cream.

Not that I have anything against vegan foods, but if it wasn't for you and [livejournal.com profile] lethran, I'd consider "vegan Asian" to mean "eats only rice". (I have gone for days eating just rice.)

Far from it. I don't know if they have a name for an all rice diet. *thinks* Maybe you'd be a grainavore. I don't consider myself a vegan. I just have to eat that way. We do what we can. But I would shrivel and die if I had a boring diet. I need variety.
