Supa Chimp!
The chimps were playful. I even took a couple of movies of their antics.

Candid shot from our Stud of the Week photo shoot.
I have a soft spot for gorillas.

Where's my remote???

What?
I've decided that one simply cannot take a bad picture of a meercat. I have about a dozen pictures of them. Everything they do is adorable. *grin*

This is the coolest creature I've ever seen. It's called a Tuatara and it's more closely related to dinosaurs than to lizards. It was fast, had an amazing amount of personality... I could see a huge amount of intelligence in it's eyes. It looked like it was studying me with as much fascination as I was studying it. That just makes me love it more. *swoon* There is a really fascinating Tuatara fact sheet here.

Ooohhhh! And that tongue is why the ladies love him!
I fell in love with this giraffe. I took numerous pictures of him with his tongue lolled out. I guess there is something inherently cute about tongues. I don't understand myself, but there you have it.

I dig the mini-dinosaur. Of course I would, it's all about the reptiles and squishy things with me, innit. ;)

One of these days, I'm going to post my collection of Aussie spiders for you. Maybe we can make a Dangerous Creatures scrapbook from them when I return. *grin*

That Tuatara is amazingly cool. I felt like we communed. It would definitely appear in the scrapbook. That critter is a total carnivore. When one considers that it is less than 1.5 feet long, it has a set of impressively scary teeth. I love how absolutely atavistic it looked.

The meercat is AWESOME! He looks like Ben when he sits on the couch watching TV.

Actually, that meercat is female. Isn't she adorable? I know! I thought she looked like my Dad sitting in his easy chair down in his den when I was a kid.

I took oodles of shots of the monkeys. I kept thinking of you, for some reason. *grin* Since that one looked like a super hero, I thought I'd post it for you -- not that you like monkeys or super heroes. *wicked grin* I should post my other photo that I had taken just for you, but I don't see a way to add an image in the response section.

I'm going to fool around with it... let's try this.

Indeed. I usually don't like going to zoos because I feel too much pain from the animals. This zoo was really well done. I could tell that it was built back in the "walls and cages" days of the '50's to '70's, but they were making huge changes. The zoo temporarily had no elephants because they were completely rebuilding their enclosure to be more natural for them. And interesting. They had features in the enclosures that were interesting to each animal. I'm sure they've been rennovating it slowly over the past couple of decades.

The views were also spectacular. It's built into a hillside on the harbour opposite Sydney proper. There were lots of great vantage points.
