I may have mentioned that G and I are starting a new Internet venture and we need a bit of help with your opinions. We’ve been working too closely on it and are extremely myopic. We want to be sure that we are not too married to one idea or the other without reason. If you’d like to please help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Firstly, you should know that this will be an Internet classified site. It would be like opening the newspaper, only online. It will have both local and global classified content for buying and selling.
We are proposing the name DingoDaddy.com.
1. What, if anything, do you like about the name DingoDaddy.com?
2. What, if anything, do you dislike about the name DingoDaddy.com?
3. Based entirely on that name, if you were looking to visit a classifieds web site, how likely would you be to visit DingoDaddy.com?
We are also considering an alternate name for the site. The other name is DingoList.com.
4. What, if anything, do you like about DingoList.com?
5. What, if anything, do you dislike about the name DingoList.com?
6. Based entirely on that name, if you were looking to visit a classifieds web site, where you can buy and sell, how likely would you be to visit DingoList.com?
We really appreciate any input you may have. If you have further questions, let me know. We’d love to hear anything you might have to say about it. As I said, we’re a bit myopic after all these weeks. You all rock my world!

On the other hand, my immediate reaction to "DingoList" is that it's like Craigslist, only Australian, which would make me *much* more inclined to look at it as a classfieds site. However, both names make me think "Australia," which is maybe what you're going for, but would possibly make me less inclined to think of it as a site I could use to access things locally. Unless, as before, I'd heard about it elsewhere. However, if it had the same conceit craigslist does, in that there are different pages for different regional areas, I'd trust it as a reliable source for local stuff.
Is that helpful?

Dingodaddy is cute. You could have some sorta mascot that's cute.
But then I think of Dingo's eating babies....sooooo....but I know not all Dingos eat babies.
So I say go for it. Is your site gonna be a fre for all of classified postings or will you have some content and quality control?

How about "The Dingo Pages"?

On name alone DingoList seems much more stilted and stuffy. It also seems more like something vaguely pornographic to me.

2. "DingoDaddy" sounds like a site for hooking up Australian with strange bestiality fetishes. I'm guessing that's bad. It also doesn't have anything in it that conveys "this is for classified ads".
3. Based only on the name? Not at all. The name doesn't even suggest that it's a classified ads site. I'm guessing you mean if I were given a list of different classified ad sites, would I be likely to pick DingoDaddy based on the name. I have to go with brand recognition though. I'd go with craigslist or, more likely, a topic-specific site (e.g., a job site). What will DingoDaddy offer that isn't offered by craigslist? What's the value-add? Why is going to make anyone who use it says, "Hey! This is way better than craigslist and I want to tell everyone I know!"? Or are you aiming to capture a slightly different niche?
4. DingoList.com conveys that it's a site for listing something, and it's not unreasonable to conclude its a classified ads kind of site. (Though this isn't the most important quality a name could have)
5. It it's kind of generic and immediately thinks of craigslist.
6. See 3.

I've gotta agree with other people who commented earlier. My mind automatically went on a tangent when I read the 'dingodaddy' name.
Dingodaddy --> GoDaddy.com --> Superbowl ad --> hot chick in ad (Candice Michelle) --> This month's playboy (in which the hot chick in the godaddy ad is the cover girl).
Result? Dingodaddy = playboy cover model
Hmmm... probably not the tangent that one wants when they first hear the name.
