...and I've finally caught up on LJ and email. Phew. And, now I'm going to leave again for a couple weeks. Ah well. There will be plenty of opportunity to LJ when I return and start my treatments. I'll be strapped to Sydney for a while, so I must sneak in my adventures while I am able.
About the race riots. Honestly, the first indication anything was wrong was a rather concerned message left on our answering machine by our friend, Brad. He had heard the news and phoned asking if we were okay. No sooner had we finished listening to his message, he phoned again. We had him tell us all about it and we assured him we were fine and well away from hostilities.
And we are.
They have closed the beaches all up and down the NSW coast to prevent hostilities this weekend. We are heading for points north, anyhow.
My personal opinion is that people need to really work hard to learn to live with each other peacefully when we are all cramped into a big city like this. Especially when we have such diverse cultures rubbing elbows with each other daily. I will grant you that I know relatively little about many of the cultures that populate this area, but I should hope that they would grant me a little leeway and explain their feelings and allow me to explain mine. Wishful thinking, I know. I constantly wish for peace in people's hearts and calmness of mind... plus a little bit of luck for us all.
