Grrrr!

Apparently, the president has elected to allow oil refineries to bypass certain environmental regulations that control how cleanly said gasoline burns. He says this is to make it easier for refiners to meet demand and possibly, I repeat possibly, lower the prices at the stations. How much do you want to bet that prices don't lower and the only result is an increase in pollution and negative effects to the environment?

My apologies to my lungs as I bicycle commute my way around the streets. How do I fight this? A possibility of temporary financial relief is hardly an acceptable cause for near irreversible damage to the environment. And we all know that once they raise petrol prices, they never are reduced more than a few cents for a little while.

*contented sigh*

What a wonderful evening! G and I left for Newtown this afternoon, walked around, sat for a while in a café talking about all sorts of things (including some of the monarchs of Britain and France), then proceeded to King St. where we dined at a great Vietnamese restaurant. There is this appetizer there, vegetarian green papaya salad, that is absolutely divine. I’ve been craving it for weeks. When we had finished dinner, we proceeded three doors down to the vegan Asian market that makes its own soy ice cream. Heavenly! We strolled down the street people watching, window shopping and slowly savouring my ice cream. I even flirted with a few store clerks. A completely lovely evening. Blissful.
