Warning: this is a rant. There is still time to turn back.

Too late. Now you're stuck.

I have just spent the past 4 days calling all over Tomball, Texas trying to find some help and there is none to be found. My Mom lives in Tomball, is elderly and ill. She has no friends, family or relatives but me and I'm here in Oregon. Oregon, lovely Oregon that cares for its people. Oregon has assistance programs for elderly and disabled... Tomball does not. My Mom has been having trouble with dizziness lately and it isn't safe for her to drive. She is running out of her meds and food and water but there isn't a grocery store, nor a pharmacy that delivers in her area. I've called about 10 different assistance programs, ministries, etc. and all of them tell me they haven't the facilities to accommodate this need. I'm offering to pay them far more than it's worth to drive to a store and pick up a few items but no one will lift a finger.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS? Is Tomball, or perhaps Texas in general, some vacuous black hole of ignorant, compassionless, uncaring beasts?

I will continue my search for one kind soul in Tomball. If I do not succeed soon, I will have to hop on an airplane and fly over 2000 miles just to go grocery shopping for my Mom.

Conclusion: There is something disconcertingly wrong with our society and some of the people therein.

I apologize for the harshness of this entry. I think I'll go out and throw pebbles at government buildings. Maybe that will help. Maybe not. Hmmph.

It's not really harsh until you start threatening to bash people's skulls in with crowbars. ;-)

Gah, I'm sorry to hear about that. Our system is so screwed, I can barely believe it.
