G had a date with a dentist in Cabramatta with his family today, so I had the day off again. I walked to the station and embarked upon a voyage downtown to the Queen Victoria Building. It's an elegant old structure that has been revamped into a 4 story mall connected directly to the Town Hall train station. I took some pictures, but I won't even try to post them until we are on broadband. This dial-up stuff is rather slow. *blink blink*
So, I shopped for an afternoon, indulged in some delicious fruit juice, tried (unsuccessfully) to find an appropriate gift for Mom, then returned home. It was a lovely day. But I was a bit lonely. In Eugene, I run my errands and manage to find great conversation with complete strangers regularly. Here, I am hard pressed to start anything other than necessary exchanges from the people I meet. I guess I need a letter of recommendation from a mutual associate. People just seem so busy on on task. Even the clerks in stores wrap up their business with a minimum of banter. *sigh*
Cultural note: The word "math" seems to always be plural here. In both speech and print, I hear and see it as "maths."
I think I had a lot more to say, but it took me hours to work my way through the past 4 days of email and posts. It's 10 pm and I haven't made my dinner yet. *grimace* I'm going to call it quits and take care of that. I can't wait until we have broadband sometime next week. Maybe I'll be able to keep up to date.

Colorado is more to my liking...nicely devoid of chit chat. You'd hate it.

It's such a struggle to come up with something to say to cashiers. I hate meaningless banter and smalltalk, I avoid it at all costs.
Reason #92 I like having Birdie with me- I can focus on her because I have to! :)
