I'm sitting at a sidewalk café in Darling Harbour. G and I had a wonderful day. We took the train to the city, walked around the Queen Victoria Building (full of shops and cafés), then made our way to my favourite manchester shop (they sell bed linens, towels, curtains, etc.) and bought ourselves some Egyptian cotton towels and dinner napkins. Unfortunately, the shop is closing. Fortunately, everything we bought was at least 40% discounted.

Then we walked toward Sydney Harbour and passed a huge cordoned off section of Pitt St. They were filming the new Superman movie. The more I learn about how a film is made, the more wasteful I think they are. *shakes head* That won't stop me from going to see it when the movie releases, though. It was a big complicated set-up for a 5 second spot in the film where there is an earthquake in Metropolis, people run everywhere to escape falling debris, and Superman swoops in to save the day. It was very weird to see NY taxis in Sydney. Even more funny was watching "drivers" dashing out of the passenger seats of their cars to escape the tumbling buildings. They drape dark cloths over the steering wheels of the cars and place false ones on the passenger side to simulate American cars. We chatted with some very fun extras that had been waiting around since 7:30am just in case they are needed (it was about 5pm when we spoke to them) and they gave G the name of the agency that hires extras for Sydney films. They said agencies are always looking for good looking Asian men. Great. Just what G needs. Something else to swell his already big head. *rolls eyes at handsome husbands inflated ego*

Sydney Harbour was lovely. We had a romantic walk around the Rocks and sat gazing at the scenery. Then we made our way here. I am truly blessed. I know this for a fact because I was just shat upon by a bird. It was a lovely experience. We were planning to spend the afternoon at the Family's tomorrow. Rest assured, I will be taking my laundry. *sigh*

Addendum: When we walked off the train, it began to pour. Literally. In buckets. With lightening and thunder. It was hazardous walking home in my clogs, but great fun! I love a good thunderstorm. There was lots of great streak and Earth-shaking claps of thunder. *squee* It rained all of Sunday as well. My laundry couldn't be hung outside to dry and the soles of my feet are quasi-permanently stained black from my shoes being so wet. I've scrubbed and scrubbed and can't make them any less than gray. Note to self: buy pumice stone. *grins*

Actually, we didn't even bother with the camera. It was really boring. People were just standing there waiting for hours between rehersals. I don't even think they rolled the film once. Boring. *yawn* Sorry to disappoint.

To be fair, G -is- a pretty damned fine looking Asian man.

I agree. I know he's handsome, you know he's handsome... unfortunately, HE knows he's handsome as well. It doesn't tamp down his ego much. *rolls eyes and giggles*
