Wow! Thank you for your overwhelming support and interest in the mad ravings of your friendly, neighborhood MiLady. No wonder I love you all so much!
The Pisgah Report: Muddy, slippery and beautiful. I snuck in one last hike this morning. I find a great peace on that mountain. I look forward to actually making it to the top again when I return in March. I was sooooo tempted to try for the top today, but I am practicing my self-restraint. I’ll see what mountains I can conquer in December somewhere in Australia.
The Packing Report: It’s done. Four months away means a LOT of stuff. Around 150 pounds of stuff. I suspect the stuff that weighs the most are the jewelry projects, supplements, knitting projects and my entire suitcase full of dive equipment. I think I mentioned before, G spoke of an interest in learning to dive, thus about 30 pounds of gear had to be stuffed into a suitcase. I had to give my boots a bath after the morning hike, so they are slightly heavier with water. Then I needed a bath, as well. But I don’t count. *wink* Most of the 30 pounds in my carry-on are foods for the next 24 hours and toiletries to try to humanize myself after I land in Sydney.
It’s funny. I can make it through Europe for 2.5 months with one carry-on suitcase, but this trip I’ve quadrupled my load. I really didn’t bring that many clothes, either. Ah well. I’ll stay busy and entertained while I’m there and that’s important to me.
The taxi is coming to fetch us at 4pm. I’m not sure when I’ll make it to a computer with Internet capabilities, but I’ll try to make a quick post asap so no one worries. I’ll see you all on the other side of the world!
