I’m thrilled! My knees and I managed to make it up the blackberry trail and down the horse trail at Mt. Pisgah! Yay us! That isn’t anywhere near the top, it’s really only about half way, but it is my first time back at Pisgah since my knee was sprained 8 weeks ago. *does the Carol dance of joy* I’m so pleased. I arrived at three, the sun burst through the clouds and I began my hike at 3:05. I finished at 4pm sharp. The sun stayed with me all the hour and disappeared after I finished. I stopped to take pictures of wild turkeys, one of myself at the middle point, and another of the sun through the trees. I only lost about 5 minutes off each of the two paths from my normal time and felt like I could have continued to the top. I could gush even more, but I’ll manage to stave the urge to do so. *tries to suppress self-satisfied grin*

There is so much to do to prepare for this trip to Australia. I have less than a week now. I was up obsessing about packing and organization until 2:30 this morning. *limp sigh* I had my bed littered with tops and bottoms trying to determine the most reasonable ones to bring. Ones that mix and match well with others. I need mostly light clothes with layer-ability. And G has hinted that we may travel a bit. I know Melbourne and Brisbane are different temperature ranges than Sydney, so I’m trying to be prepared. Plus, I’m packing Things To Do. I’ve made packs of jewelry projects, I have my sweater and a few other knitting projects that I’ve started, and I’ve brought a couple of games with me.

G has also mentioned that he would like to be dive certified while in Australia. This means I need to pack all my dive equipment. That fills my 27 inch suitcase all by itself. Now I’m a bit tight on my 30 inch suitcase. I’ll have to remove some clothes, I think. On the return trip, I won’t have to worry about taking back all those bottles of supplements, at least. I’m going to have to sit on the poor suitcase to zip it closed.

Okay, one more load of laundry, then I’m going to stretch and go to bed.

Thanks! I'm feeling very good about my knees. It wasn't really wet. The ground was a bit muddy in spots, but the sun was shining. I guess you could call it cold. I didn't notice it once I started ascending. Actually, last year, I hiked Pisgah 3 times a week through December, until I started the medicine that made me too ill to continue. It even snowed once at the top. *smiles*

oh wow... !!!
That's a huge hike. I've never actually gone. I can see myself dying just midway *giggle*

Do you use a path or just go straight up?

There are paths all over the place. I stick to them.

And I didn't start by going straight to the top. I set goals that I could handle and made it to the top when I was ready. After I was sick, I couldn't have made it to the top. I was really weak and it took me a couple weeks to work my way to the summit. Don't rush yourself. Just set new challenges each time. Always remember, there is nothing you cannot acheive. You are a goddess.

Congratulations! I'm so glad for you. I really admire the way you don't let anything stop you. Eventually I would like to make it to the top of Mt Pisgah myself, but it's going to take quite a bit of work and co-ordination with my doctor.

Oooo! Take me with you! I want to be there that day! And some of the days before that, as well. When I return, spring will be springing. If you're up to it, we can try the blueberry trail and horse trail. They are much MUCH easier than the main trail we did before. Less steep, prettier scenery, no loose gravelly bits.
