I heard from my Mom earlier this afternoon. She has piled the car full of her most important paperwork, bottles of water, a blanket, pillow, a change of clothes and PB&J. She is heading off to parts unknown. She doesn’t know where she’s going, what direction she’s taking nor when she’ll be able to contact me again. We are a cell phone free family, you see. There are no shelters for her in her area, so she is heading off to try and find one. I’m so scared for her.

I'm so glad she's evacuating.

But for your sake I wish she was stopping at a store to grab a cheap, prepaid cell phone so she could stay in touch!

My thoughts are with you. I'm glad she's getting out now. If you need some company or anything, be sure to let me know. I'm available.

Keep breathing. She will be alright. I wish I could be with you right now in person, but let's settle for spirit. Your fear is of no help to her. Concentrate on the lightness of your spirit to guide her instead.
Be well, sweet Lady!

Sending good thoughts your way and the way of your mom. I second (third?) the wish for a cheap, prepaid cell phone...

The good news is your mom has done the long car trips on her own before. This is different, obviously, but at least she's not entirely clueless about how to find a safe place to bed down etc. The worst part will be not knowing when she'll call again. You're in my thoughts, and I wish your mom the best.

I feel like I should say something, but I don't know anything that could encourage you.

I don't know if your mother will be okay. I don't believe in hope, but I'm sure you do, so your hope may protect her. Just try not to ignore your injured foot on your mother's behalf.
