Today is filled with things to do. I’m going to the doctor this morning, then I have a couple errands to run. This afternoon, I conquer another coat on the deck. This coat of stain should seal it nicely for the winter. After that, I’m hoping to have some [livejournal.com profile] naudiz-time. It was wonderful when she called yesterday out of the blue to invite me to tea. Yay tea!

The peach pie that resulted from the peach picking on Friday turned out well, but the backlash is still being felt. I super-heated the already warm house with the oven. My boys were not happy with me. There was a temporary reprieve during consumption of the pie, but it lapsed about the time digestion started. *rolls eyes* So, I’ve decided to forego more peach picking until next week in hope the temp will cool a bit, for, where there are freshly picked peaches, there will be freshly baked pie.

G and I also went to the Scandinavian Festival in Junction City on Saturday. Yes, I had a Saturday off work! Yay! I did work Sunday, though. Sunday’s are fun. I had a great time playing with the customers. It’s far more mellow than Saturdays usually are.

Okay, I’m off to finish dressing and hit the road.

Can you pick, parboil, slice, and freeze peaches for a later use? Or do they get wonky like melons?

That's so funny... we went to Scandi Fest on Saturday as well. We may have seen you there! :)

Yes. I picked, flash boiled, peeled, sliced and laid them out on cookie sheets in the freezer for a few hours, then I scuttled them into bags in the freezer. I've successfully turned frozen peaches, and other fruits I've picked, into pies, smoothies, cakes and compotes. The defrosted fruit just doesn't have the cellular stability of fresh fruit, so they'll always be limp, but they taste just fine.

That is funny. I was there simultaneously with another friend and her parents. I knew they could be there that day and I was specifically looking for them, but didn't find them. And now you, as well. *shakes head and laughs*

I just woke up again. The first time I woke up today was clearly just practice. :)

Give me a call when you're done staining? I might be able to come over if I do enough work to justify slacking off. If not, I'm still looking forward to tomorrow's walk!

have them bake the next pie

if they enjoyed it so much and you did all the hard work have them bake the next one they should be happy some one at least made a pie for them ( evil grin ) so make all the pie you want but just for the ones who wont complain about the heat or what ever ( you did the work reward your self)...
