G and I went peach picking this morning before my class. I tried to be really reasonable so as not to overload myself with work, but alas, I ended up with 8.5 pounds of peaches. I’ve blanched some, sliced and frozen them. I peeled some and set them in a bowl to serve tonight with cream (for those of us who eat cream). I have enough left (I think) for a pie. It stands to reason that there will be more peach picking next week and another pie. The problem with peach picking is that they are so ripe they bruise and rot quickly. They need to be dealt with within hours or they are compost fodder. That’s a lot of pressure. So, I shall pick them in small batches. Goodness knows the car ride is an enjoyable one.

I’m hoping to pick some Tuesday and make a pie for the Wednesday night gamers. This will help to repay Zach for his generous contributions to my larder from his garden. Zach, you are a prince to me! *hug* I’d also like to see if I can drag [livejournal.com profile] naudiz and [livejournal.com profile] sbloss out for picking on Thursday morning and a pie making event before tea that afternoon. I will make a peach pie friendly to all our eating needs if this takes place.

And now, I shall jump into the shower to wash the day’s grime from my body.

If you have made other arrangements, that's cool. No worries. When I made the pie Saturday night, it heated the house so much the boys are still giving me grief about it. I may not be allowed to bake again until it cools down a bit.
