Today was fairly productive… after I managed to somehow sleep in until 11! *blush* I ran errands on the bike, mowed and weed-whacked the lawn until the string ran empty, showered, made a tofu scramble, served tea to a guest, drove her home, ran more errands in the car, made two batches of home-made puppy treats, and now I’m working on roasting an eggplant for some baba ganoush. It will be my maiden voyage. I hope it works well. I love eggplant.
G is a peculiar fellow. Everything must be a competition. I asked him to come help me take the batter and roll them into little treat balls about the size of a garbanzo bean. We each had a bowl with an equal amount of batter. He started first and futzed around with technique trying to be faster and better than me. He even tried to recruit me to his method. Since I’ve done this twice before, I just cheered him on and stuck to my own way. When it became clear to him that, despite starting after him, I was faster, he began to winge and try to copy my technique while accusing me of trying to steer him into a slower technique so I might beat him. *blink blink* I wasn’t aware it was a race. He soon commenced pouting. Then, when I reached over to grab some of his dough, he cried foul play. *shakes head* It’s a good thing he’s cute and makes me laugh. *giggle*
So, it’s almost one in the morning and I have to rise at six. I think I’ll chill for a bit on the deck. It’s only 78 degrees out there. After having the oven on 400 for over an hour, the kitchen is a-roasting! But I have happy puppies and baba ganoush, so it’s all worth it, right?
