Today was lovely. I had brunch with [livejournal.com profile] dreadygoddess at Studio One Café. We actually spent a few uninterrupted hours together. This is a rare treat in her busy, crazy life.

I returned home to feed the plants and await Lynne’s arrival. Together, the three of us went to the Art in the Vineyard affair at Alton Baker Park. I very much enjoy Lynne and I’m very glad she wandered into our lives. We saw some very fine artwork, enjoyed a cool hip-hop dance performance, and I saw many people I knew. We had a fine dinner during Satin Love Orchestra’s performance. The first time I saw them was soon after I moved here at Art in the Vineyard. I raced up to the stage to dance, boogied with the Slug Queen and then had to retreat to a distance as the sound was cranked so high it really hurt my ears. They are still a fun band but I truly miss the days when Shelly James and her husband were a part of the ensemble.

Afterwards, we walked about some more, I had my semi-annual chocolate covered banana with nuts, and we checked out the rest of the art booths. We spent a considerable amount of time in the milliner’s booth where the three of us tried on a good 30% of the hats she had. I was instantly attracted to a royal purple number with lovely plumage (I’m such a sucker for feathers) but Lynne plopped a pinkish-red hat on my head and declared it perfect. This was among the other 15 or so hats that she energetically tried on me. She also kept using G as a hat model. For those of you who know G, he has an enormous head, so you can imagine the hilarity involved when you see this large-headed man with his boyish face and a very lovely woman’s hat perched atop his crown. And I do mean atop. None of the hats were quite large enough to sit like they should. He was very patient with her dressing him in these chapeaux and made all the appropriate funny faces to complete the look. The long and short of it was that I walked out of there with a new hat. It’s very cute. I may never have tried it on myself, but I think they were right that it is a better fit than the purple one. I may have to initiate a tea party so I may show off my new headwear.

Now, I must relax into bed. Tomorrow is a work day for me. I think I’ll walk to work tomorrow. It’s been so lovely and I’d like to make my commute a bit longer. As much as I enjoy the fast bike ride, I really don’t have the chance to appreciate people’s gardens as I pass. Walking gives me that opportunity and it only takes another 15-20 minutes longer. Good night sweet world!
