There was no D&D tonight because of a lack of interest. There were only three of us and, without quorum, we went our separate ways. I did, however, score a very nice encyclopaedia of herbs. [livejournal.com profile] naudiz went out for a late supper and a wonderful chat, then I returned home to make two bottles of perfume, fold finished laundry, clean another load of laundry and then retire to sit on the deck and enjoy the night air curled up in a fleece blanket with my new herb book and a puppy on my lap. I guess I found my second wind. I was so tired this afternoon that I had to leave the Star Wars party early. I was just sitting there staring into space having a really hard time keeping my eyes open. When I returned home, I made a really decent meal by cobbling together miscellany from the fridge. I think it was the banana and sunflower seeds that brought the perkiness.

Now, I am sleepy and refreshed. I think I shall lie and count my blessings as I fade to sleep.

We should do a skill exchange sometime. Teach me how to make perfume and I'll teach you, uh... how to... um. I'm sure there's something I know how to do that is actually interesting that I could teach. :)

The perfume I make is just too easy to do. I don't even think it should qualify as a skill. It's just the vodka and fragrance/essential oils. Shaken, not stirred. That's it. I still remember the first time I walked into the liquor shop, though. I came bouncing in asking them where the vodka was and that I wanted the highest alcohol content they had. The two women looked at me like I lost my mind until I explained why I wanted it.

Your herb encyclopedia/perfume skills wouldn't happen to cover anything like which herbs/essential oils are associated with what zodiac sign, by any chance? When I lived in Winston-Salem, NC we'd trek over to Greensboro to the new agey shop they had and get custom scents based on birth charts - nothing too in depth, just sun, moon and ascendant. I smelled great. I still have the empty bottle so I know what oils went into my fragrance but the webpage for that store has been down for some time so I can't re-order from them. Not that I really want to since they were all New Age-ier Than Thou and either too friendly or too snotty (depending on who was working). I know they used a big book for reference but I could never manage to see the title 'cause they were careful to guard it from prying eyes. And so far I haven't had any luck finding it thru Amazon or Google. Any ideas?

I do not have any idea off hand. I did, however, find this site:

And this book for the oils:

ASTROLOGICAL AROMATHERAPY
Patricia Davis
Whether you are an aromatherapist or an astrologer, a beginner or experienced, Astrological Aromatherapy will set you on the road to bringing these two ancient arts together. For thousands of years healers have observed that both people and plants respond to the annual cycle of the heavens and used this knowledge to help in their work. Even the smallest knowledge of astrology can help you do the same. Simply knowing an individual's Sun Sign can guide your choice of essential oils to help yourself, your family, friends, or professional clients. Patricia Davis explains how to identify your Signature oil, how the sun, moon and planets affect your health, and how you can use a birthchart to make unique, personalised aromatherapy blends for pleasure or treatment.

Re: D&D

We game at Borders every Monday night. We have been doing this for years. It is extremely reliable... except, apparently, on some holidays. *grin*

Re: D&D

I will pass on the happy news to him! Is there anything he needs to know about rolling up a character? Should he wait to do it there, or bring a pre-rolled with? What level are you all at?
