I guess it’s been a while since I’ve written. I managed to spend all day Wednesday cleaning my house. I dug out all the little dust bunnies and sent them packing. The house feels good again. Now I have both the inside and outside in order. I am pleased.
I also worked on three people’s gardens during the week. My thumb may be starting to show signs of green. This also pleases me.
It has been an interesting weekend. All three of us started with the notion of camping all weekend at Egils (the SCA event). We prepped accordingly. Then, when the rain stopped and our allergies bloomed, G and I had planned to day trip. Our experience is that his asthma is easier to deal with if he sleeps in our pollen-free room at night rather than lying prone in nature while his lungs fill with gook. So, we planned accordingly. Then on Friday, we are all set to go, G dons his garb and begins wheezing and his eyes are red and watery. He decides to forego the trip. So, Flex and I pack all his stuff in the car and run down to Creswell. Fun was had, games were played, new people were met, then Flex walked me back to the car park along this dark and winding path. It was a fun dark and winding path full of moving shadows. Very cool.
Saturday morning I rise and ask G if he feels he can day trip that day. If not, I had an invitation to sleep in
cathaus’s tent with her. He thought he could make it so I didn’t bother to dig into the shed for the camp bedding. Then he put his garb on and it was a repeat of the previous day’s mess. So, I went alone again. This leads me to believe he is allergic to something in his garb. Since I can’t wash his doublet, I’ll have to see about having it dry cleaned soon. Saturday afternoon it began to rain. And rain. And rain. We hid under JR’s carport tent and played games all afternoon. It was great fun… plus thunder and lightening storm! Wheee!
Saturday night was still kind of wet and many people had problems with excess moisture in their tents. Flex and Cathaus returned home with me Saturday night to sleep in dry beds. I must say, though, that I had an unnaturally fun time walking that long spooky path sloshing through the thick, slippery mud on the way back to the field where the car was parked. Then, the driving through inches of viscous mud on what was formerly the road out of the field was also very, very cool. It reminded me of driving through the unplowed snow back east. The car wanted to fishtail and hydroplane. The mud wanted to suck us into its gaping maw. Yahoo! I miss driving in those challenging conditions! It was like a taste of my winter-time commute. Such fun!
Yesterday we spent most of the afternoon playing with Flex’s little propeller whirly-gig toy. We went out to the main eric and people kept passing us and we’d toss the whirly-gig at them and suck them into playing. We did this for hours. Such fun. Then there was delicious food made for me by
altrus, who is a god to me, and a campfire. *contented sigh*
Today, there is a Star Wars party. More fun! Yay! Life is good.
