Phew! My obligation to G’s room is done. The new flooring is installed and I spent the whole day yesterday installing the moulding. Yes. Yes. I know. Why a whole day for the moulding? Because the room was shoddily built into half the garage. The whole outside wall of his room has part of the foundation sticking up into it. The flooring only reaches the side of the foundation and the wall board meets at the top of the foundation. That left a 3”x2” piece of cement poking into the room. Half the length of this is in the closet. Also, there was light coming through from outside in the closet. No wonder his room is always the coldest. I spent the better part of the day closing the hole, stuffing it with insulation and constructing a casing for the foundation out of wood so that it would look acceptable and keep the look of the rest of the room. Of course, no one will even see this because half is in a closet and the other half is behind G’s desk, but I’ll know it’s done well and is better insulated to keep him warm. The only thing I have left to do is re-install the radiator strip. Since the floor on that side of the room was raised 1.5” and since I’m not inclined to install it sitting directly ON the flooring like the previous people did, I need to move the wires. This requires me shutting off the electricity for all the computers in the house… don’t ask me why the circuits in this house were so strangely set. All our computers are plugged into completely different rooms in different parts of the house, yet any time I need to shut off the electricity to re-do wiring somewhere, that circuit seems to be the one. This involves forcing two geeks to give up their tech for a period of time. One can imagine the fuss involved. I may need to chuck them a twenty dollar bill and send them off to the movies some afternoon so I can get it done.

Luckily the radiator is on an unfurnished wall. I can do that any time. I’ll likely wait until G has finished moving into the room. I helped him move all the big furniture back in there. That was after 7pm. Then I had to cook supper. I don’t think we sat down to eat until after 8. So, my apologies for all those who thought they were going to see me yesterday. I felt it was very important to finish G’s room so he could remove himself from my dining room table. He’s been whining all week about how he can’t work so he’s been playing his annoyingly noisy computer games all of two weeks now. Where I used to put on fun music for cooking accompaniment, I was left with crazy blasting and shooting and bombing sounds. Soothing, yes? *rolls eyes*

Today I’m going to Saturday market around noonish for lunch and shopping. Then I’m covering for someone at work from 2:30 to 5. G has all afternoon to get stuff out of the living room. It won’t be long now! Then I’ll finally be able to clean the rest of the house! Yay!

WOOHOO! Congrats on the perfectly aligned moulding that no-one will ever see. OCD is a wonderful thing sometimes, isn't it??
And YAY!!! No more zap sounds to cook by.

What's OCD?

Well, I'm home and G's computer is still on the dining room table. I'm not sure he actually did any work on his office today. I may have to be stern with him. He was in such an all fired hurry for the room to be done, now he's taking his sweet time moving back into it. *rolls eyes* It's a good thing he's cute and he makes me laugh. *grins and winks*

And thanks for the kudos. Next time you come over I'll have to move his desk aside to show it off to an appreciator of fine art. *giggle*

Oh, by the way, I was wondering... I know you installed your Mom's backyard irrigation system. Did you tap into the main line on the street or did you just hook it up to the house tap outside? I've been contemplating installing some kind of system, but it's been quoted at $2000. I know I can do it for less if I can talk to the right people.

OCD--Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (making things RIGHT, damn it!!)

You will have yout kitchen/dining room back soon. I have NO doubt of that. And yes... I will help you move that desk in order to gawk at what an amazing job you did covering that gap of concrete, and keeping the man warm.

Yup... did the system with the help of my friend Jeff. And yup... tapped into the main line and had valves and such. Lots of fun digging. I know that he would be willing to assist you on any level that you wish. He does landscaping, rock and water feature stuff, irrigation stuff, and any other thing ya needs and or wants for hire. But, ya know... if you just need his brain to pick, he's up for that as well. Let me know if ya needs his number. I may be able to assist ya as well on some of the simpler questions.

Hey, Kadoo... I was wondering if I could snag Jeff's number from you, please? I am going to buy some stone and raise at least one bed this summer and I'd like to have the piping for the irrigation in place before I build this structure.

You should come have tea on my deck some day. It really is relaxing.
