Today we ran a couple of errands this morning then George and I were off to game with an old college buddy of his. Apparently, Mahez and George were part of an AD&D group for 6 years starting in his University days. Mahez invited us into his current group for a game today. It was so nice to game again. Remission is a horrible thing… imagine 4 weeks with no gaming. *shudder*
So, this was a game of Nick’s invention (the GM) set in Transylvania during the early 15th century. It is based on a Ravenloft game (I know nothing about this, I’ll have to go do some research) but it is of his own design.
The boys were very nice, their families seemed great (all of them have one small child each), and they were great to be around. The game itself was rather slow. I guess I’m spoiled by such talented GMs like Lethran and Zach. But hey… it’ll do! It’ll do! I’ve reached the desperation point.
Do you think I’ve fallen off the geek precipice when George and I sit in LOTR and make comments like, “Wow, those must be enchanted arrows plus 4.” Or, “Oooo, look! He rolled a one on his diplomacy check.” Well, even if I have tumbled off the edge, I have a sneaky suspicion that I may just land on a big, soft heap of geek bodies that have taken the leap off the cliff before me.

Imagine, if you will, living without any gaming whatsoever for stretches of three and four years. Now that, my friend, creates serious geek withdrawal shakes. ;-}
We start up a new campaign in a new group right after superbowl - I'm horribly excited, since it's AD&D (I'm old school, I guess) and I've got an 18th strength blacksmith/weaponsmith/fighter.
I've discovered that I love playing fighter characters, though this is the first time I've ever played a boy. Very, very excited.
*Ooof!* Hey, if you're going to land on this here pile at the bottom of the cliff, mind your elbows, would you? ;-}

I've never played AD&D, I completed my transformation to full computer and gamer geek after the third edition. Have fun with the adventure, be brave, be mighty and save the universe at least once per week!
Oh, and I'll be sure to tuck the my boney bits in as I plummet onto the pile. It shouldn't be too nasty, I consider myself the soft, huggable type.
