Personally, I've never had a student loan in my life, but I am surrounded by scholarly types. (I find if I bake cookies for the intellectuals, they allow me to hang around *wink and grin*) So, as a public service announcement for those I love, I've plagerized this from one friend and posted it to others.
Apparently, in order to lock in a low fixed interest rate for your student loans, people should consider consolidating them soon. Rates are expected to go up significantly in another month or two. If you're still in school, you can consolidate directly with the Department of Education. Here is the link he posted.
