We just saw The Two Towers. Yeah!
Background material: Last year in Eugene, George and I dressed in garb a la Hobbits, went to the first showing on the first day, saw many people we knew there, saw many other Hobbits, wizards, even a host of Nasgul showed up. When the opening credits came on, the audience roared, whistled, clapped and there was much rejoicing.
This morning: Yes, many of the theatres in Sydney were sold out today, but there was NO ONE dressed up. George and I were also lacking in garb as we left it all in Eugene for the first part of our move. Also, George and I were the only ones who cheered and clapped at the start of the movie.
Conclusion: These people lack spirit here. Where are the die-hard freaks and geeks? I am disheartened.
After the movie we met an old gaming buddy of George’s from his University days. Robert is very cool and I would love to get to know him better, unfortunately, he currently lives in London and is only here visiting his family for the holidays. *big pouty lips* So far, he’s the only person here that has resonated with me at all. Granted, I need to get out more.
On a positive note, George has found another of his old gamer friends and we are going to his house on Saturday for some gaming. I’m not sure what game yet, we’ll see. It has been almost 5 weeks since I last gamed. *full body shiver* I’m going through withdrawal. It’s not pretty.
By the way, I’m sorry I haven’t properly wished everyone a peaceful Solstice and Happy Christmas. I hope all were happy and content.
