I just returned from seeing The Merchant of Venice at the Bijou. It was great! It is one of my favourite Shakespearian plays. I just love the part of Shylock when it is performed correctly, and Al Pacino performed it quite well indeed. I also love that they filmed it right in Venice. I recognized so many places. They actually filmed the court scene in the courtroom of the Doge’s Palace. Very cool. And the costumes were done so well I could swear the characters were paintings of the period come to life. My highest congratulations to them on this accomplishment. I very much enjoyed it. My thanks also to the gentlemen of Avalonne for accompanying me, though neither are big fans of ye olde English speech.

I consider myself a reasonably well spoken person. But perhaps I'm too absorbed in the idioms of today. Either way, unless someone holds my hand and slowly walks me through every part of a Shakespearean play (including poining out the funny, dirty and key points), it's totally lost on me.

I'm a Shakespearelexic. Or something.

The Lord Leebrick Theater's production of The Tempest (one o' my favs) this season was fantastic. I also attended with non-Shakespeare fans and they enjoyed it even when they were a bit confused. They used to have a Shakespeare play each season, but still have one most years. Think you and yours would like to be notified for the next one?

Funny thing... I have a Flex pass for this season and somehow have only used it once. Most of it was me being sick and just not wanting to deal. I really meant to see that play, but... ah well. My loss.

Awww .. what a shame.
So happy to hear that you're supporting local theater though.
