Okay, I have a little problem and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to help.
Our problem is a phone problem. G canceled our second line after we sold the business and were moving to Australia. Now he is heavily into the real estate thing and he spends hours of each day on the phone. No one can call me back and I can't even make an outgoing call before the phone either rings again or he is back on it. I actually have to schedule time to make an outgoing call, but the person can never call me back. It's becoming an issue. I'm not sure what to do. The internet phone center is a Portland number so it's long distance. Some of this is local phone calls. I don’t want to put people out to make them call him on a long distance line for business.
Also, we bought new phones and they are not two line phones. Cell phones are expensive and I never usually use them. If G used the cell phone to keep our home line free, he'd have to have a really huge minute limit. He really is on the phone for hours out of the day. That adds up quickly. It was costing me $30 per month for just a minimal amount of minutes when I had a cell phone. That’s more than a land line. He’s really hesitant to install another land line and buy a second phone for his desk. I just don't know what other options there are for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? They will be greatly appreciated and repaid with great kindness and, if you’re local, hugs and maybe baked goods. *bats eyes and looks hopefully out into cyberland*

Well, you're not going to like this...
If you don't use long distance, a second line isn't that much. We have a spare answering machine you could use, you can also request that the tech install it to a particular jack.
If you want to talk more, we can talk at tea. If you do go this route, I'd appreciate you going through me, we have a referral program and it makes me look good when I get people signed up through it.

We aren't worried about long distance because we have those rechargable cards that give .03 per minute. We don't even have long distance on our existing land line.
I knew you'd be a source of vast knowledge. Thank you.

You can pay for minutes as you go, like we do with the long distance cards, and it's there when you need it. We broke down and bought one a while ago.
From a tax standpoint, if G. is using it a lot for business, you may want to get a second land line that's JUST for home use. It makes bookkeeping a LOT easier.
