Oh, I had to run out the door this morning. Thank you for the additional picture. I even started googling more to read up on them, but I ran out of time and had to bolt. Busy busy busy. *sigh*
Your two best sources on stomatopods are: The Lurker's Guide to Stomatopods: http:\\www.blueboard.com\mantis (the sad part is, I typed the url from memory)
and http:\\www.reefcentral.com and the mantis forum. "The Continuing Adventures of Tim the Supermantis" are not only funny, but filled with a lot of good info. You have to sign up to get access. Dr. Roy Caldwell, a reknowned stomatopod expert posts there frequently. I'm sure he never imagined in a million years that he'd have fanboys hanging on his every post.
Also, if you'd like, I have "Aliens from Innerspace/The Fastest Claw in the West" on videotape. The first is on cuttlefish, the second on stomatopods, featuring the infamous sequence of the O. scyllarus breaking a pane of glass.
