I did my touch-up coat on the second colour, finally managed to shut off the electricity to the house and put the radiator back and install the new light fixture. Everything is working there, and the electrical work was much more pleasant without that silly little current coursing through the wires. *grin*
Then I cleaned thoroughly in preparation for the sink installation. I still have more painting and trim work to do… not to mention the caulking, but I was really keen to hook up the sink today. We muscled the vanity into the bathroom only to discover that the plumbing tap for the cold water bumps into the support board for the drawers. Mind you, this vanity is new. The original is sitting on my front lawn… just in case I still need any of the parts still attached to it.
So, I hacked up the support board a bit to fit the vanity in the corner only to discover the bottom drawer opens into the door frame. So, I pulled it out and hacked some more. Suffice it to say, after a bit of gentle persuasion with a #8 blade, the vanity sits nicely where I want it. Next, I placed the sink on top. This was another interesting adventure. The sink is great, but the faucet and drainpipe of the new hardware do not want to meet the existing drainpipe coming from the wall. By this time, I had been working for about 8.5 hours on this project, so I just sat back on my bottom and whimpered for a bit. I’m still not sure what I am going to do about it. I suppose I could go to a hardware store and see if there is a flexible drainpipe connector option, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before. I’m working all weekend so this will be placed on the back burner until Monday. Until then, I have a vanity, I have a sink… they may not function quite yet, but there they are. I also put the toilet paper holder back on the wall. I think that’s the clincher. It makes the bathroom more official to have the toilet paper sitting on the wall next to the toilet. Yup. It must be a real bathroom for it has the toilet paper on the wall next to the toilet. Sure sign of a real bathroom, that is. *shakes head and mutters to self*
It’s been a long, back breaking day. The ice pack and I are very friendly tonight. I’m really looking forward to this project being done. I want a few less tedious and time sensitive projects for my next picks. I still have quite a few days work on this one, though. I’m hoping to have at least the basics completed before the weekend. If the mural takes longer, so be it. I really just want both my bathroom and my life back. Most other projects I can put down and run off to be social, not so with this one. If I put it down, it’s in everyone’s way. Gah.
Okay. I declare this day officially over.
