Okay, this is just sad.  I was so excited a day or so ago to discover the Rich Text Editor in LJ.  I clicked that button that switches everything to rich text.  Now that I'm using it, though, it keep placing the html on different lines and stuff.  I don't want to use it any more.  I tried to click the "switch" back to plain text mode button and the mouseover says "javascriptvoid(0);"  It won't give me back the regular mode.  I've tried logging out, rebooting and several other things.  I want plain text back.  I tried to look it up in the FAQ, but by all accounts, clicking that button should work, and it doesn't.  Is it just me?  Or do I need to open a question file with LJ?

There is a solution to the problem. If I recall correctly, it might have required logging completely out of the system and then back in after changing the editor.

This is why I don't use the RT mode-and type out the HTML.

Wish LJ had fixed that bug instead of creating new bells and whistles.

Re: somewhere in the help files

I don't understand the solution you suggested. If you mean I have to log out before I post every time, I'm not happy about that. That's not a solution. When I log out and try to post annonymously, it isn't in RTF, it's in plain text, so I can't switch it there. When I log back in, it's still in RTF. I've been unable to find anything about this problem in the FAQs.

I clicked on it on a whim and now I regret having done so. There was no warning that it was irreversable.

I'm saying that there is a setting to switch back to plain LJ, but after you choose it, you need to log out of LJ, and then log back in.

I'm also saying that there is, somewhere in the LJ help files, a FAQ telling you how to change from rich text to the old way and back again.

I know it's frustrating and I'm trying to help you.

I appreciate your help.

I've scoured the FAQ's and can't find a thing to that effect. I've tried several ways of doing it. I'm beginning to think it may be my computer. I'm going to look into my browser to see if that's the problem.

Re: somewhere in the help files

At the bottom of the posting window there's a line that references a switch back to the plain editing inference. The word switch is highlighted. In my browser (IE 7) it switches it back and forth without trouble.

Which browser are you using?

Re: somewhere in the help files

I fixed it, thanks. It was my browser. I switched to IE and the link worked, then I logged back in with my browswer and all was well.

oh- I had that problem. Restart browser and you should have a "switch to plain text" option where the "rich text" option was before.
