I took the girls in for their one week followup exam. The doctor said they looked great and were healing very well. Everyone was so happy to see how active and spry Gana is after such an intense surgery.
Gana has been excellent. She spent the first couple of days post-op rather loopy and she was having trouble controlling her back legs. She's 14 and has a bit of arthritis back there. I've been feeding her Puppy Stew every evening for 2 years wherein I mix special herbs and vitamins into watered down wet food. She's a renewed puppy. All her blood panels came back spectacularly. She has no signs of the previous anemia or any of the other things that were a problem a few years back. A couple days ago, she started demanding we throw the plush toys for her to fetch. I had washed them all in hot water to kill any previous dental bacteria, so I was happy to see her run after them. She didn't pick them up, I had to chase her and throw again, yet it was wonderful to see her run around the house. Yesterday, she started fetching and returning and sitting on the futon gnawing on them. *does happy dance* She's so amazing. My love for her doubles every day.
Dina has been feeling personally affronted by the attack on her mouth. She only had a couple molars removed and she won't eat chewy treats. She loves those things. Now, she turns her nose up at them. She's healing fine, she is just psychologically wounded and wanting even more affection than normally. She's my drama queen. Gana's a trooper who insists upon walking it off, no matter what. Dina, she'll insist on cuddles and coddles.
During the waiting time in the exam room, Gana found the back door that leads to the outside. She kept vigil there, clawing and scratching at the door to gain freedom, sweet freedom. Now, they have been breakfasted, they've checked the perimeters of the yard and, after I've had breakfast, we'll go for a nice walk.
