We are roaming the city until it's time for the Gerber event. Part of our day involved a tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral, the largest cathedral in America. The land was originally bought to be burial ground as it was so far away from the settled area. The people thought it was silliness to build a cathedral so far afield, yet the city grew to its doors and the majestic building is quite dwarfed by the surrounding skyscrapers. What was once the tallest, most magnificent building is barely perceptible until one is right next to it.
