I love Sunday mornings. Firstly, there is the Sunday Morning Sleep-in. Then, there is Sunday Morning Breakfast which is me working on some big, home-made breakfast for the whole family to share.
Later today, I'm going to meet Risa, one of our International exchange student friends, to help her work on her knitting. I think it's a beautiful, and amusing, thing that I can help teach someone else to knit. I not a very experienced knitter myself. I love the act of knitting, working on the patterns in the yarn, and the zen of the activity, but I'm not a big fan of knitting anything other than straight lines. Making socks, sweaters and hats take more concentration than I want to devote at this time. Knitting is something I do with my hands while I concentrate on something else. If I have to think about the knitting, then that defeats the purpose of the knitting because it is nothing more than a zen activity for my hands while my mind is otherwise engaged. At least, that's the case in the moment.
Still, if I can share the basics of knitting with others, I am honoured to do so. I love the times that
lurkitty and I sit together knitting with a pot of tea between us discussing politics, the environment and the best marinades for tofu. It's time well spent.
