Life back home is full of the chaos and full of the busy. I’m swamped with responsibilities. I’d much rather this than the complete boredom of life in Sydney, but my next couple of months shall not allow much breathing room.

The general hub-bub of settling back into home and routine has been extended by the battle for dominance and possession. I think I’m winning the war. We’ve not seen hide nor hair of vermin, and I haven’t killed a moth in days. Woot! I’m still on task cleaning the house of their remains, though. I’m halfway done with the living room. All the laundry for cleaning linens and drapes has been complicated by the dysfunctional state of my dryer. It’s burning and squealing, which I take to mean the belt needs replacing, but I’ve not yet had the time to muscle it out of its corner to see. I’ve asked the trees in the backyard nicely if they’d mind a clothesline, and I’ve been washing and drying things slowly over the days. I’m down to one comforter per day, though. How tedious.

Morgana has come through her surgery and is on the mend, but she is still limping and I can’t convince her to use her back leg. She’s not let the arthritis bother her this long before and I’m concerned. I’m watching her closely. I’ve bowed out of the gaming convention this weekend so I can care for her. So, it’s just us girls here at Avalonne for the weekend.

My Mom, on the other hand, is going to be in surgery next week for a torn rotator cuff on her dominant shoulder. I’ve had to book a last minute flight down to be with her. I won’t have internet connection, but I’ll stop by some cafés to check email when I can. I’m going to take the laptop and work on our much overdue 2005 taxes while I’m there.

Optimistically, I’ll be home in time for our International student’s arrival. On top of all the other cool things that we’ve mushed into the first two months back after an 8.5 month absence is hosting a new student from Korea for a few days until she moves into her dorm. I’m really excited about hosting, but I’ve had to really step up my cleaning to make the space hygienic. I simply can’t put it off until I return from Mom’s because I just know that neither G nor Flex would lift a finger to clean in preparation for her arrival.

So, I’m busy. Crazy and busy. It’s all good, though. I’m off to make supper.
