Kickball!

I’m having so much fun being home. Despite all the tedious house cleaning, puppy primping and backyard hay mowing, it’s absolutely wonderful to be here.

You know what I’ve been absolutely chomping at the bit to do? Play a game of kickball. For some reason, I had a dream that I was playing kickball about a month ago and I’ve been excited to come home so I could gather a bunch of people together and play. I haven’t played kickball since my early teens, but I’m absolutely excited about it!

So, who wants to play kickball??? I am not at all athletic, and when I last played, I wasn’t very good. Still… I wanna play! If you’re not put off by my lack of utter professionalism and want to have a good time laughing and running around on the grass, apply here! I’m going to go buy a kickball in the next couple of days and I’ll be waiting eagerly for participants.

Progress!

Yick. I just spent the past hour+ trying to mouse-proof the bottom kitchen cupboard. I measured, found wood, cut to size, then went to get my drill and (what a surprise here) both batteries had lost their charge. Imagine that? After 8.5 months of no use, they are dead. Crap. So, one is on the charger but I’m already grubby in the moment. I’d really like to finish the job now. Alas. Instead, I stapled gunned mesh over the space and I’ll screw or nail the boards in tomorrow or Sunday. Mind you, it’s a tight squeeze to fit my whole upper body in a cupboard with a fixed shelf. Folding and manipulation were necessary to squeeze my bulk through the hole so I had both arms to work.

Update: 1 hour later.
As I was typing, I had a brilliant idea. I used my electric jeweler’s drill to make the primer holes and the battery for the drill had charged enough for me to screw it into the cupboard. I may reinforce the upper shelf with a board later, but I’m hoping this stops them. For now, I’m done. I’ve showered and I’m feeling rather good about the progress. Now I can take a bunch of bowls and baking pans off the table and put them away. I may be able to have the house ready for Wednesday night gaming this week. I also made two more swipes of hay mowing in the backyard with my little electric weed-eater before the battery exhausted. I’m a good 1/3 done with the back. Yup. I’m satisfied with today. Rar!
