We arrived safely home last night. Our flight from Sydney was late arriving, so we missed our connection home and had to wait around the airport for many hours. My ears didn't pop well the first landing due to the head cold, but all is well and it wasn't excruciatingly painful. Our Tuesday spanned two days, two continents and the Pacific Ocean, but at the end we were greeted by the beautiful face of [livejournal.com profile] sbloss and the fresh Eugene air. I know it sounds crazy, but after two months of poor to no sleep each night, a virus and the myriad other things that have oppressed me and made me so dead tired that I was virtually nodding off as I walked from one terminal to the other in SFO, I immediately perked right up as soon as I neared the airplane door. By the time I hit the parking lot with my bags in hand, I was ready to keep going for the rest of the evening.

I returned home to a huge puppy greeting, a Flex greeting, and then special visits from [livejournal.com profile] dreadygoddess & [livejournal.com profile] naudiz. Today, I saw Trish and Skyleigh and[livejournal.com profile] pjack. I love my Tribe! *swoon*

I spent the morning tackling the house. This is a project to be continued over the next few weeks. There is so much to put to order. I'm also taking this opportunity to really make a clean sweep of everything. I've been gone 8.5 months. I plan to toss every staple in the kitchen cupboards, wash it all out and buy fresh goods. I'm hoping to hit my closet soon, too. I feel like I want to touch every nook and cranny of this house. I guess that's how I scent mark.

Last night was the first full night of sleep I've had in months. I love being home.

... and I just realized something as I was searching this morning for clothes for after my shower. It dawned on me that I packed every last piece of summer clothing and took it all to Australia. I don't even think I have any short sleeve shirts or tank tops at all except for the two of each I brought back from Au with me. Crap. That was poor planning on my part.
I guess I'm still tired. I slept through my little watch alarm until past 10.

I have been trying to boot my desktop computer since I returned. I only managed to succeed once. Now I need to determine whether it's the computer or the monitor that is being disagreeable. Thankfully, G and Flex installed the wireless thingie that allows us to use the laptop, so that's what I'm typing on this morning. Actually, the laptop is perched precariously atop the chair arm as I happen to also have another laptop on my proper lap... Aldina. She takes precedence. The computer is far less important than my precious baby. Two laptop models and only one lap. *snicker* I absolutely LOVE that problem! I am SO home!

Also, I am still working through the three boxes of mail looking for the car registration renewal. I can't find it. We tried to renew online but they need numbers off the piece of mail. I guess I'll have to call the registry this morning and ask what they need. I can bike over today and take care of it. *sigh* I shall make that my priority for the day so I can be street legal for road trips to hike by Friday... if the red tape isn't too sticky. I was hoping to get my hiking thing on this morning, but sleeping in rather nixed that. I'm not bitter, I'll just register the car and hike tomorrow. It's all good.

My garden is tragically dead. Nothing really survived. Even the mint and my little red lace-leaf maple are dead. They may come back in spring, if I'm lucky, but I'm left with nothing in the moment... though I haven't hacked my way to the back garden through grass taller than me to check if any of the flowers or rosemary made it.

I have also lost about 1/3 of my house plants. I'll do what I can for the sad state of the survivors. Poor babies.

I cleaned my deck yesterday, but it's a sad, sad thing to sit out there. I haven't worked up the courage, yet.
